This study was conducted to determine relationship between branch tiers and fruit quality in apple trees trained with central leader training system. The study was carried out under Eğirdir-Isparta conditions and Williams' Pride (Co-op no: 23) apple variety trees grafted onto MM 106 rootstock were used. Fruit firmness, lightness (L*) and chroma (C*) values of the fruits on the basal branch tier were higher than those of the fruits on the upper branch tiers. However, fruit diameter, weight, soluble solids content (SSC), fruit skin color hue angle values and bitter pit values of fruits were higher on the upper branch tiers than basal branch tier. Red color index value was 61.8% on the upper branch tiers while 53.2% on the basal tier. It was determined that basal tier produced almost 40% of total fruit yield, but it gave less quality fruits than the upper branch tiers.

Bu çalışma merkezi lider terbiye sistemi uygulanmış elma ağaçlarında dal katları ve meyve kalitesi arasındaki ilişkileri tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Eğirdir-Isparta şartlarında yürütülen çalışmada, merkezi lider terbiye sistemi uygulanmış MM 106 anacına aşılı Williams' Pride (Co-op no: 23) elma çeşidine ait ağaçlar kullanılmıştır.
