Investigation Of Teacher Candidates' Readiness Levels For Teaching Profession
Abstract
It is important that teacher candidates gain professional skills and feel ready for their fields during their undergraduate education before they start teaching profession, because they have high self-efficacy beliefs that they will make effective teaching. In this context, it is only possible to find out whether teacher education programs provide teacher candidates with the skills related to the profession or whether the candidates have competencies related to teaching profession. In this direction, the aim of this study is to examine the teacher candidates' readiness levels for the profession. In the research in order to determine teacher candidates’ readiness for teaching profession "Readiness Scale for Teaching Profession" developed by Yıldırım ve Köklükaya (2017) was used. In the research, survey model which is one of the quantitative research methods was used. The study was conducted, in the 2018-2019 academic year at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Faculty of Education with a total of 208 students, 122 women and 86 men. In the analysis of the data, t test and ANOVA test were used. As a result of the research, it was determined that the teacher candidates' readiness levels for teaching profession were low.
