Pestistlerin Beyin Sağlığına Etkileri

Öz

Son yıllarda tarımda pestisitlerin yaygın kullanımı insan sağlığını olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir. Özellikle tarım işiyle uğraşan çiftçiler risk altınadır. Ayrıca gebeler, çocuklar, yaşlılar ve kronik sağlık sorunu olan bireyler de pestisitlerden en çok etkilenen grubu oluşturur. Pestisitlerin birçok sağlık sorununa yol açtığı bilinmekte olup nörolojik problemler oldukça yaygındır. Uzun süre düşük doz pestisit maruziyeti beyin hücrelerini etkileyebilir. Bu etkileşme beynin önemli bölgelerinde nöron kaybına yol açarak kognitif gerileme, hafıza, dikkat ve motor fonksiyon kaybı gibi bozukluklara neden olabilir. Özellikle gebelik öncesi dönemde pestisit maruziyeti ile çocukluk çağındaki Merkezi Sinir Sistemi (MSS) tümörleri arasında ilişki olduğu bilinmektedir. Pestisit kullanırken dikkatli olunmalı ve toplumsal farkındalığı arttırmak için sağlık eğitimi çalışmaları yürütülmelidir.

Effects of Pesticides on Brain Health

Öz

In recent years, the widespread use of pesticides in agriculture has negatively affected human health. Farmers, in particular, are at high risk. In addition, pregnant women, children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic health conditions are among the most affected groups. Pesticides are known to cause various health problems, with neurological issues being quite common. Long-term exposure to low doses of pesticides can affect brain cells. This interaction can lead to neuron loss in critical regions of the brain, resulting in cognitive decline, memory impairment, loss of attention, and motor function disorders. There is also known to be a link between pesticide exposure before pregnancy and central nervous system (CNS) tumors in childhood. Therefore, pesticides should be used with caution, and public health education efforts should be carried out to raise awareness.
