A NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL COMPARISON OF PATIENTS DIAGNOSED AS BIPOLAR DISORDER IN DEPRESSION, SUBTHESHOLD DEPRESSION AND EUTHYMIC PERIODS

Öz

In this study, we aimed to compare of cognitive functions of patients diagnosed as Bipolar Di-sorder (BD) in depression, subthreshold depression and euthymic periods. Eighty one patients with a diagnosis of BD according to DSM IV-TR criteria, not in a manic episode and 50 control subjects were included in the study. Sociodemographic data form, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, Stroop Test, Verbal and Nonverbal Cancel-lation Test, Rey Auditory Verbal learning test, Serial Digit learning Test, Rey Complex Figure Test were applied to both study groups. Patients were also assesed with Hamilton Depression Scale and Young Mania Rating Scale. Significant differences in the neuropsychological tests scores of BD and control groups were determi-ned. However, no significant difference was found in the neuropsychological tests scores of BD groups. The results of the study revealed that while there were no differences in the neurocognitive perfromance of patients in depression, threshold depression, euthymic period, there were significant differences between the patient and control groups. Cognitive impairment in bipolar disorder patients appears to be independent of the signs of depression.

İKİ UÇLU DUYGUDURUM BOZUKLUĞU TANILI HASTALARIN DEPRESYON, EŞİKALTI DEPRESYON VE İYİLİK DÖNEMLERİNİN NÖROPSİKOLOJİK AÇIDAN KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI / A NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL COMPARISON OF PATIENTS DIAGNOSED AS BIPOLAR DISORDER IN DEPRESSION, SUBTHESHOLD DEPRESSION

Öz

Özet:Bu çalışmada, İki Uçlu Duygudurum Bozukluğu (İUDB) tanılı hastaları, depresyon, eşikaltı depresyon ve iyilik dönemlerinde bilişsel işlevler açısından karşılaştırmayı amaçladık. DSM-IV Tanı ölçütlerine göre İki Uçlu Duygudurum Bozukluğu (İUDB) tanısı alan ve mani döneminde olmayan 81 hasta ve 50 kontrol çalışmaya alınmıştır. Her iki çalışma grubuna da sosyodemografik veri formu ile Nöropsikolojik değerlendirme için Wisconsin Kart Eşleme Testi, Stroop Testi, Sayı Dizisi Öğrenme Testi, Rey Sözel İşitsel Öğrenme Testi, Rey Karmaşık Figür Testi, İşaretleme Testi uygulanmıştır. Hastalar ek olarak Young Mani Ölçeği, Hamilton Depresyon  Ölçeği ile değerlendirilmiştir. İUDB tanılı hasta grupları ile kontrol grubu arasında, nöropsikolojik test puanlarında anlamlı derecede farklılık saptandı. Ancak hasta grupları arasında hiçbir nöropsikolojik test puanlarında anlamlı farklılık saptanmadı. Çalışmamızda, depresyon, eşikaltı depresyon ve iyilik dönemdeki hastalarda nöropsikolojik yetilerde farklılıklar saptanmazken, hasta grupları ile kontrol grubu arasında farklılık saptanması, depresyon belirtilerinden bağımsız olarak hastalarda nöropsikolojik bozulmanın var olduğu şeklinde yorumlanabilir.
