(Elecsys assay on Roche Modular E170 analyzer, Roche Diagnostics, Germany) ile
ölçüldü. Katılımcıların ortalama yaşı 41 (standart sapma 15 yaş) idi. Kesim
değeri 20 ng/ml alındığında, D vitamini eksikliği oranı %94 bulundu. D vitamini
vitamini eksikliği endemik bir sağlık sorunu olmakla birlikte kadın cinsiyet,
sedanter yaşam ve düşük gelir grupları riskli gruplardır.

Abstract: Vitamin
D insufficiency is a widespread public health problem in the world especially
in developing countries. Vitamin D operates in various physiological processes.
We aimed to evaluate deficiency of vitamin D in winter in residents of
Diyarbakır city, which is located at southern region of Turkey.Past medical
records of 215 female and 49 male subjects were retrospectively evaluated for
vitamin D insufficiency. Serum concentrations of 25(OH)D3 was measured by
electrochemiluminescence immunassay (ECLIA) method (Elecsys assay on Roche
Modular E170 analyzer, Roche Diagnostics, Germany). The mean age of all subjects
was 41.0 years (SD 15.0). The frequency of vitamin D deficiency using cut-off
point below 20 ng/ml was 94%. Vitamin D level was lower in women compared to
men (9.6±5.2 vs 14.6±5.4 ng/ml, p=0.0001). Vitamin D level was not
significantly different regarding veiling, BMI, and monthly income. However,
the subjects leading a sedentary lifestyle had significantly lower vitamin D
level compared to the active ones (9.6±5.2 vs 13.3±5.7 ng/ml, p=0.0001).
Despite the fact that vitamin D is a worldwide endemic health issue, female
gender, sedentary lifestyle, and low income constitute risky groups.
