Serotonin syndrome is a potentially fatal condition caused by overstimulation of serotonin receptors in the central and peripheral nervous system. Serotonin syndrome develops due to the increased amount of serotonin due to increased serotonin synthesis or release, decreased metabolism, inhibition of reuptake and / or direct agonistic to serotonin receptors. In the literature, rare cases of serotonin syndrome due to linezolid have been reported. In this report, we present a case of serotonin syndrome developed in a patient receiving linezolid therapy for diabetic foot infection and receiving escitalopram treatment for major depression.
