Determination of risk factors in oral cancers in children and informing the patients in the risk group are among the responsibilities of specialists dealing with pediatric patients. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the awareness of paedodontists and pediatricians about early diagnosis, treatment and prevention of oral cancers. A total of 250 participants, 115 pedodontists and 135 pediatricians, who voluntarily accepted to answer the questions and complete the forms were included in the study. Questionnaires included the participants' demographic characteristics, risk factors, clinical presentation, diagnostic and treatment methods of oral cancers in children, and their thoughts on educational knowledge about oral cancer. 71.2% of the physicians participating in the study were female and 51.6% of all physicians were completed in 1-5 years of their professional life. Both paedodontist and pediatricians stated that the most common oral cancer in children was lymphoma, while 58.8% stated that they did not encounter oral cancer. While 88% of the respondents answered the most common early symptom of oral cancer as an unhealed lesion in oral cavity, there was a statistically significant relationship between the responses of paedodontists and pediatricians (p <0.05). 80% of physicians stated that biopsy should be performed for suspected oral lesions. Only 5.6% of physicians were confident that they were able to diagnose oral cancers from the clinical presentation, and 78% reported that they needed more education in the diagnosis of oral cancer. As the incidence of oral cancers in children continues to increase, the role that pediatricians and paedodontists play in the detection and prevention of oral cancers becomes even more important. As a result of this study, it is necessary to increase the education for oral cancers both in the period of specialty and continuous education programs.
