The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of oral premalign lesions (OPLs) in patients who attended the Pathology Department between the years of 2017 and 2019. A total of 194 patients confirmed to have OPLs histopathologically from Pathology report archive were retrospectively evaluated. Among them, 82 (42.3%) were male while 112 (57.7%) were female. Gender and age information were taken from medical records. According to the pathological results, OPLs were classified. In 194 patients, OPLs were found. 112 (57.7%) were female while 82 (42.3%) were male. According to age distribution, numbers of patients in 10-20, 21-30, 31-40,41-50- 51-60, 61-70, 71-80 and above 80 age groups were 1 (0.5%), 13 (6.7%), 25 (12.9%), 36 (18.5%), 50 (25.8%), 35 (18.1%), 20 (10.3%) and 14 (7.2%) respectively. The most common premalign lesion was lichen planus (50.6%). Biopsy should be performed to exclude possibility of malignancy in the oral cavity. The early diagnosis of OPLs is important for treatment.
