Ergenlerde Video Oyun Bağımlılığı ile Siber Zorbalık Arasındaki İlişkide Uyku Kalitesinin Aracı Rolü

Öz

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, ergenlerde dijital oyun bağımlılığı ile siber zorbalık davranışları arasındaki ilişkide uyku kalitesinin aracı rolünü incelemektir.
Materyal ve Metot: Kesitsel ve ilişkisel bir tasarıma sahip olan bu çalışma, 1 Mayıs-20 Haziran 2025 tarihleri ​​arasında yürütülmüştür. Çalışmaya Türkiye'nin doğusundaki bir ilde ikamet eden 15-18 yaşları arasındaki toplam 504 ergen katılmıştır. Veriler; Sosyo demografik Bilgi Formu, Dijital Oyun Bağımlılığı Ölçeği, Pittsburgh Uyku Kalitesi İndeksi (PUKİ) ve Siber Zorbalık Envanteri-II kullanılarak toplanmıştır. İstatistiksel analiz, tanımlayıcı istatistikler, pearson korelasyon testleri ve yol analizi yoluyla Yapısal Eşitlik Modellemesi kullanılarak yapılmıştır.
Bulgular: Dijital oyun bağımlılığı puanı ile uyku kalitesi, siber zorbalık yapma ve siber mağduriyet arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişkiler saptanmıştır (p<0,001). Path analizine göre dijital oyun bağımlılığı, uyku kalitesini ve siber zorbalık davranışlarını anlamlı şekilde yordarken; uyku kalitesi sadece siber mağduriyet üzerinde anlamlı bir aracı rol oynamıştır (β=0,055; p=0,015). Uyku kalitesinin siber zorbalık yapma üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi bulunmamıştır (β=-0,017; p=0,697).
Sonuç: Dijital oyun bağımlılığı düzeyi yüksek olan ergenlerde uyku kalitesinin daha düşük olduğu ve bu durumun siber mağduriyet riskini artırabileceği belirlenmiştir. Bulgular, uyku kalitesinin dijital oyun bağımlılığı ile siber zorbalık arasındaki ilişkide kısmi bir aracı rol oynadığını göstermektedir. Bu sonuçlar, dijital medya kullanımı ve uyku hijyenine yönelik eğitim stratejilerinin geliştirilmesinin, gençler arasında siber zorbalığın önlenmesinde önemli olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır.

Bu araştırma, Harran Üniversitesi İnsan ve Sosyal Bilimler Etik Kurulu'ndan etik onay almıştır (Tarih: 16.04.2025, karar no: E-76244175-900-438978). Katılımdan önce, ebeveynlerden bilgilendirilmiş onam alınmış ve ergen katılımcılardan yazılı rıza alınmıştır. Katılan tüm bireylere katılımın gönüllülük esasına dayalı olduğu, verilerin gizliliği ve anonimlik konusunda bilgi verilmiştir. Herhangi bir mali veya maddi teşvik sunulmamıştır. Çalışma, Helsinki Bildirgesi'nde belirtilen etik ilkeler doğrultusunda yürütülmüştür. Ayrıca, Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü'nden kurumsal izin alınmıştır (İzin No: MEB.TT.2025.026552).

The Mediating Role of Sleep Quality in the Relationship Between Video Game Addiction and Cyberbullying Among Adolescents

Öz

Objective: This study aimed to examine the mediating role of sleep quality in the relationship between digital game addiction and cyberbullying behaviours among adolescents.
Materials and Methods: The study employed a cross-sectional and correlational design and was carried out between May 1 and June 20, 2025. A total of 504 adolescents aged between 15 and 18 and residing in an eastern province of Türkiye participated in the study. Data collection tools included the Socio-Demographic Information Form, Digital Game Addiction Scale, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the Cyberbullying Inventory-II. Statistical analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation tests, and Structural Equation Modeling via path analysis.
Results: Digital game addiction showed statistically significant positive correlations with sleep quality scores, cyberbullying, and cyber victimization (p<0.001). Path analysis revealed that digital game addiction was a significant predictor of both sleep quality and cyberbullying behaviors. Sleep quality demonstrated a significant mediating effect in the pathway between digital game addiction and cyber victimization (β=0.055; p=0.015), but no significant mediation was found regarding cyberbullying (β=–0.017; p=0.697).
Conclusions: Adolescents with higher levels of digital game addiction may experience poorer sleep quality, which in turn can elevate their risk of cyber victimization. The findings suggest that sleep quality partially mediates the connection between digital game addiction and cyberbullying. These outcomes underline the importance of implementing educational strategies that address both digital media use and sleep hygiene to help prevent cyberbullying among youth.

Etik Beyan

This research received ethical clearance from the Harran University Human and Social Sciences Ethics Committee (Date: 16.04.2025, decision no: E-76244175-900-438978). Prior to participation, informed consent was obtained from parents, and written assent was collected from the adolescent participants. All individuals involved were informed about the voluntary nature of participation, data confidentiality, and anonymity. No financial or material incentives were offered. The study was conducted in line with the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki. Additionally, institutional permission was granted by the Directorate of National Education (Permission No: MEB.TT.2025.026552).
