Evaluation of Family Support Dynamics of Nurses having COVID-19

Abstract

Objective: This study was carried out to evaluate the family dynamics of nurses who care for patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit or service with the diagnosis of COVID-19 infection when they return to work after the treatment of COVID-19 infection.

Materials and Methods: The study was carried out with 60 nurses who were actively worked with COVID-19 patients at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of State Hospital/Ankara/Turkey in 2021. In order to collect the data of preliminary study, sociodemographic forms and Family Evaluation Scale (FAS) was adapted by Işıl Bulut.

Results: All of the nurses are women, 60% of them are 41-50 years old, 83.3% are married, 16.6% are unmarried and 43.33% are nurses with chronic diseases. It was determined that the participants got the highest mean score (X=2.16 SD= 0.25) from the sub-parameter showing the necessary attention, and the lowest mean score (`X=1.41 SD= 0.36) from the parameter named general functions.

Conclusion: The Evaluation Scale provides a detailed family picture for nurses whose parameters of showing necessary attention and behavior control are evaluated as unhealthy, and the seven parameters in the scale are interrelated.

COVID-19 Tanısı Alan Hemşirelerin Hastalık Sürecinde Aile İçi Destek Dinamiklerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışma, COVID-19 enfeksiyonu tanısıyla yoğun bakım ünitesinde veya serviste yatan hastalara bakım veren hemşirelerin COVID-19 enfeksiyonu tedavisi sonrası işe dönüşlerinde aile dinamiklerinin değerlendirilmesi amacı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir.

Materyal ve Metot: Çalışma Ankara ilinde bulunan bir devlet hastanesinin Yoğun Bakım Ünitesinde (YBÜ) 2021 yılında yatan hastalara bakım veren ve COVID-19 enfeksiyonu geçiren 60 hemşire ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler tanıtıcı bilgi formu ve Işıl Bulut tarafından uyarlanan Aile Değerlendirme Ölçeği (ADÖ) kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir.

Bulgular: Hemşirelerin tamamı kadın, %60’ı 41-50 yaş, %83,3’ü evli, %16,6’sı bekar, %43,33’ü ise kronik hastalığa sahip hemşirelerdir. Katılımcıların en yüksek puan ortalamasını (X=2,16 SS=0,25) gereken ilgiyi gösterme adlı alt parametreden, en düşük puan ortalamasını ise (X=1,41 SS=0,36) genel işlevler adlı parametreden aldığı tespit edilmiştir.

Sonuç: Gerekli ilgiyi gösterme ve davranış kontrolü parametreleri sağlıksız olarak değerlendirilen hemşireler için Değerlendirme Ölçeği ayrıntılı bir aile resmi sunmaktadır ve ölçekte bulunan yedi parametre birbiri ile bağlantılıdır.
