COVID-19 Salgını Sürecinde Ebelik Öğrencilerinin Depresyon, Anksiyete ve Stres Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi

Öz

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, COVID-19 salgını sürecinde ebelik öğrencilerinin depresyon, anksiyete ve stres düzeylerinin belirlenmesidir.
Yöntem: Bu araştırma tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel tiptedir. Araştırma 10 Mayıs-10 Haziran 2020 tarihleri arasında Samsun’da bir üniversitenin ebelik bölümünde eğitim gören 336 öğrenci ile online olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler; kişisel bilgi formu ve Depresyon, Anksiyete, Stres Ölçeği-21 kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde tanımlayıcı istatistiksel yöntemler kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 20.62±2.24’dir ve tamamına yakını (%98.8) bekardır. Öğrencilerin %21.8’inde orta düzeyde orta düzeyde depresyon, %18.4’ünde hafif düzeyde anksiyete, %13.1’inde hafif düzeyde stres belirtileri saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin depresyon, anksiyete ve stres alt boyut puanları ile yaş, sınıf, medeni durum, çalışma durumu, kronik hastalığa sahip olma değişkenleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark yok iken (p>0.05), salgın öncesi ruhsal sorunlar için destek alma değişkeni, salgın sürecinde psikolojik desteğe ihtiyaç duyma değişkeni ve salgın sürecinde günlük ortalama COVID-19 hakkında haber izleme saat değişkeni arasında anlamlı düzeyde fark saptanmıştır (p<0.05).
Sonuç: Öğrencilerin %48.6’sında depresyon, %30.7’sinde anksiyete ve %32.7’sinde stres belirtileri farklı düzeylerde saptanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, öğrencilerin ulaşılabilir rehberlik hizmeti alabilmesi önerilmektedir. Özellikle, üniversite yönetimlerinin öğrencilere sunulan psikolojik destek ve danışmanlık sistemlerini COVID-19 pandemi süreci ve sonrasında artırması oldukça önemlidir.

Depression, Anxiety and Stress Levels of Midwifery Students During COVID-19 Outbreak Process

Öz

Objective: In this study, it is aimed to determine the levels of depression, anxiety and stress of midwifery students during the COVID-19 outbreak process.
Methods: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The research was carried out online with 336 students studying in the midwifery department of a university in Samsun between 10th of May and 10th of June. The data were collected by personal information form and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale-21. Descriptive statistical methods were used to evaluate the data.
Results: The average age of the students was 20.62±2.24 and almost all of them (98.8%) are single. 21.8% of the students had moderate depression, 18.4% mild anxiety, and 13.1% mild stress symptoms. While there was no statistically significant difference between the depression, anxiety and stress subscale scores of the students and the variables of age, class, marital status, working status, and chronic disease (p>0.05), there was a significant difference between the variable of getting support for psychiatric problems before the outbreak, the need for psychological support variable and the daily news monitoring time variable about COVID-19 during the pandemic process and depression, anxiety and stress subscale scores of the students (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The symptoms of depression in 48.6%, anxiety in 30.7% and stress in 32.7% of students were detected at different levels. In this direction, it is recommended that students receive accessible guidance services. In particular, it is very important that university administrations increase the psychological support and counseling systems offered to students during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
