Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of adults1 attachment styles and romantic relationship qualities on subjective sleep quality with the structural equation model.
Methods: This study is a web-based cross-sectional study. The study was completed with 122 adults who volunteered and met the inclusion criteria. Relationship Questionnaire, Perceived Romantic Relationship Quality Scale, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and a questionnaire created by the researchers were used as data collection tools.
Results: There was no significant difference between the sleep quality and perceived romantic relationship quality according to the attachment styles of the participants (p>0.05). There is a significant relationship between the participants' total relationship duration and their perceived romantic relationship quality (p<0.05). There is a weak inverse relationship between the participants’ sleep quality and their perceived romantic relationship quality (r=-.200, p<0.05). This study examined the relationship between adult attachment styles, perceived romantic relationship quality, and sleep quality. The planned relational model could not be confirmed, but important results were obtained that will contribute to the literature.
Conclusions: Participants generally had poor sleep quality, high levels of romantic relationships, and secure attachment styles. As the duration of the participants’ relationship increases, the quality of the romantic relationship they perceive also increases.
