The Effect of Nurse-Nurse Collaboration on Nurses’ Professional Commitment and Task-Based Job Performances: A Structural Equation Model

Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of nurse-nurse collaboration on nurses’ professional commitment and task-based job performance.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, data from 316 nurses working at a Medical Center were collected using the “Personal Information Form”, “Nurse-Nurse Collaboration Scale”, “Nursing Professional Commitment Scale”, and Task-based Job Performance Scale. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Model.
Results: In our study, the nurse-nurse collaboration total scale mean score was found to be 2.97±0.56. Thus, the nurses’ general collaboration was determined to be above average. The nursing professional commitment total scale mean score was found to be 68.87±12.42, which showed a moderate level of the nurses’ professional commitment. The task-based job performance total scale mean score of the nurses was determined to be 5.50±1.13, which indicated a high level of task-based job performance. Finally, it was determined that nurse-nurse collaboration had a positive effect on the nurses’ professional commitment and task-based job performance.
Conclusion: Nurse-nurse collaboration can enhance the quality of healthcare by positively affecting nurses' professional commitment and task-based job performance. Additionally, increased collaboration among nurses may also lead to positive professional outcomes.
