The mean Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale score of the mothers was 54.10 ± 6.16 and their mean Primipar Breastfeeding Motivation Scale total score was 172.22 ± 11.61. There was a positive and significant correlation between the total score and sub-dimension scores of the scales administered to the mothers (p<0.05). There was a positive and significant relationship between the total and subscale scores of the scales administered to the mothers The mental well-being of the mothers affects the breastfeeding motivation positively and significantly (p<0.01). Conclusion: Mental well-being and breastfeeding motivation of primiparous mothers whose babies were hospitalized were slightly above the average, and as the mental well-being level of the mothers increased, breastfeeding motivation increased.
