Objective: The study was planned to determine the anxiety, pain and embarrassment levels of the patients for the urodynamic procedure.
Methods: The sample of the study, which was planned as a descriptive-cross-sectional study, consisted of 90 patients who applied to the Urology Outpatient Clinic of a city hospital between May 2022 and August 2022 and were scheduled for urodynamics. Data were collected with the patient information form, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and State Anxiety Scale (SAS), in which pain, anxiety, and embarrassment levels were evaluated. In the analysis of the data, the Independent Sample t-Test, Kruskal-Wallis, and Mann Whitney-U test were used for the post-hoc analysis of significant results, for the comparison of demographic data according to descriptive statistical methods, pain, anxiety, embarrassment levels, and State Anxiety Scale mean scores. Ethics committee and institutional permission were obtained before starting the study.
Results: The patients' mean anxiety level score was 4.50±3.42, pain level mean score was 3.87±3.01, and embarrassment level mean score was 5.40±3.71, the mean state anxiety scale score was found to be 49.80±6.70. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the patients' gender, marital status, work status, smoking status, diagnosis, previous urological intervention status and the source from which they received information about the urodynamic procedure, and anxiety, pain, embarrassment levels and state anxiety scale mean scores (p<0.05).
Conclusion: It was observed that the anxiety, embarrassment and anxiety levels of the patients for the urodynamic procedure were moderate, and their pain was low.
