A late complication of abdominoplasty mistaken for an ovarian cystic mass which was diagnosed only at laparotomy: A Seroma

Abstract

Abdominoplasty is an elective surgical procedure which is mostly required by women with aesthetical reasons. A lot of postoperative complications are observed after this procedure. Seroma formation is the most common complication and is even regarded as a natural process of healing after the surgery. At this case report, we discuss a case of seroma which presented as a left adnexial cystic mass and another cystic mass unable to be discerned with imaging modalities but only to be diagnosed at laparotomy in a 40 year-old woman.

Ovaryan kistik kitle ile karıştırılan, ancak tanısı laparotomi ile konulabilen abdominoplasti sonrası görülen geç bir komplikasyon: Seroma

Öz

Abdominoplasti, daha çok kadınlar tarafından estetik kaygılarla tercih edilen elektif bir cerrahi müdahaledir. Bu operasyon sonrası bir çok komplikasyon tariflense de, seroma oluşumu doğal bir iyileşme süreci olarak kabul edilebilecek kadar sık görülen minör bir komplikasyondur. Bu vaka takdiminde, 40 yaşında bir kadın hastada transvajinal ultrasonografide sol adneksiyal alanda kistik kitle ve komşuluğunda bu kitle ile süperpoze olan kistik-solid oluşum saptanarak, görüntüleme yöntemleri ile tanı konulamayan ancak laparotomi ile tespit edilen bir seroma vakası literatür eşliğinde tartışılmıştır.
