Öz

Circumcision is one of the oldest surgical procedure that means removing
some, or all of the prepuce from the penis. Circumcision has been applied to
approximately %30 of the male population in the world.

The reason of circumcision varies from society to society. In some societies,
for example, there is a purely religious cause in the Jews; it is both
religious and cultural in Muslims, Aborigines and ethnic groups in Africa. In
Western civilization, especially due to medical reasons.

Our goal in this review is to evaluate the effect of circumcision on male
sexual function regarless of its doing reasons.

Sünnetin cinsel fonksiyonlar üzerine etkisi.

Öz

Sünnet işlemi prepisyumun cerrahi olarak tamamının ya da bir kısmının
çıkarılması anlamına gelmektedir. Uygulanan en eski cerrahi tekniklerden
biridir. Dünyada toplam erkek nüfusunun yaklaşık olarak %30’ una sünnet işlemi
uygulanmıştır.

Sünnetin yapılma sebebi toplumdan topluma değişmektedir. Bazı toplumlarda
örneğin Yahudilerde tamamen dinsel bir neden varken; Müslümanlarda,
Afrikalılarda Aborjinlerde ve bazı etnik gruplarda hem dinsel hem de kültürel
kökenlidir. Batı medeniyetinde ise özellikle medikal sebeplerden dolayı
yapılmaktadır.

Bu derlemede amacımız yapılma sebebine bakılmaksızın sünnet işleminin
erkeklerde cinsel fonksiyonlar üzerine etkisinin değerlendirilmesidir.
