Peacemaking Method In Resolving Student-To-Student Conflicts: Teachers’ Perspectives
Öz
The
purpose of this study was to investigate teachers’ perspectives related to peacemaking
method implemented as an alternative to traditional discipline approach in
resolving student to student conflicts. In the study, “semi-structured
interview technique” was used as a method of qualitative research. In the
research in which criterion sampling technique was used, interviews were
carried out with 5 women, 6 men, and 11 teachers in total. In the analysis of interview
data, content analysis technique was used. Research results indicated that peace
education program implemented as a separate program from curriculum improved peer
relationships on the positive way, enabled student conflicts to resolve
constructively-peacefully, developed peacemaker students’ behaviors, peer
relations, and problem solving skills positively, on the other hand, did not affect
course achievement significantly.
