Son yıllarda astım ve alerjik hastalıkların görülme sıklığı giderek artmaktadır 1 . Ülkemizde de bu artışa paralel bir eğilim gözlemlenmektedir 2-6 . Günümüzde alerjenden kaçınmanın yanısıra son yıllarda inhale kortikosteroidlerin gerek çocukluk çağında, gerekse erişkin astımında yoğun olarak kullanılması ile astım klinik olarak kontrol altında tutulabilmektedir 7 .
