Greta Thunberg ve İklim İçin Okul Grevleri: Küresel İklim Aktivizminde Yeni Süreç

Öz

Greta Thunberg, 2018 yazında İsveç Parlamentosu önünde oturma eylemi yaparak, iklim değişimi/krizi ve buna yönelik aktivizm tartışmalarında yeni bir süreç başlattı. Uluslararası medyanın da konuyla ilgilenmesiyle beraber Thunberg bir iklim mücadelesi ikonuna dönüşürken, önerdiği İklim için Okul Grevleri, geçen bir yıl içerisinde lise ve altı derecedeki öğrencilerin katılımıyla dünyanın pek çok yerinde gerçekleşen bir eylem biçimi oldu. Bu bağlamda çalışma, iklim tartışmalarının küresel çapta kolektif ve bireysel eylemlerle nasıl dönüştüğünü anlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Temel argüman, iklim konusunda sosyal boyutun artan düzeyde önem kazandığıdır. Türkçe literatürde yeterli ilgiyi görmeyen İklim İçin Okul Grevleri, iklim hareketinde yeni bir dönemi simgelemektedir. Yeni bir gençlik hareketi, herkese ait olan, müşterek ve makro bir meseleyi yeni bir eylem tarzıyla önümüze sunmaktadır. Bu aynı zamanda siyasal bir sorgulamadır. İklim krizinden iklim adaletine doğru dönüşüm yeni adımlar atılması konusunda devletlere yönelik önemli bir baskı aracı olacaktır.
