Öz

Physical disability is termed as disturbance or defect which impede or eliminate human body's ability by disturbing human structure and shape. Physical disability may occur due to neonatal, natal or postnatal causes. People with physical disability have some natural needs as everyone. They are known to have difficulties in many areas of life. In society, sexual lives of these individuals are treated as an unknown and ignored issue, and moreover it has been assumed that they have no such needs. Disabled patients experience many troubles in their life domains including sexuality. This article provides information about physical disability and sexuality, and difficulties with which disabled people faces in their sexual life and overviews literature on this topic.

Fiziksel Engellilerde Cinsellik

Öz

Fiziksel engel, insan yapı ve biçiminde, fiziksel yönlerinden herhangi bir bozukluk veya eksiklik oluşturarak onun bedensel yeteneklerini engelleyen veya ortadan kaldıran sorun olarak tanımlanır. Fiziksel engellilik doğum öncesi, doğum sırası ve doğum sonrası nedenlere bağlı olarak ortaya çıkabilir. Fiziksel engelli kişilerin de her insan gibi doğal bir takım gereksinimi vardır. Engellilerin, yaşamın birçok alanında güçlükler yaşamakta oldukları bilinmektedir. Toplumda bu bireylerin cinsel hayatları genelde bilinmeyen ve göz ardı edilen bir konu olarak kalmakta, engelli bireylerin cinsel ilişki yaşamadığı varsayılmaktadır. Oysa engellilerde de cinsellik yaşam kalitesi için önemli alanlarından biri olup, bu kişilerin cinsel yaşamlarında çeşitli güçlükler yaşadıkları bildirilmektedir. Bu yazıda fiziksel engellilik ve cinsellikle ilgili bilgiler verilerek, fiziksel engelli kişilerin cinsel yaşamlarında karşılaştıkları güçlükler tanımlanacak ve konuyla ilgili yapılmış çalışmalar gözden geçirilecektir.
