INVESTIGATION OF LUNG AUSCULTATION CAPABILITY OF ELECTRONIC STETHOSCOPE AND SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF LUNG SOUNDS

New developments and instruments such as lung sound analysis have not still been widely used in clinical applications of lung disease diagnosis. In this study, an expert physician using an electronic stethoscope (Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 4000) recorded auscultations of 48 patients with respiratory problems, and further, these lung sounds together with the physicians comments related to the patient are entered into computers as the database. The sounds previously recorded by the stethoscope reloaded into the computer with an appropriated voice format, and then used for acoustic analysis. Consequently, the variations on the lung sounds both by real time hearing and by using computerized acoustic analysis methods provides necessary information in normal and abnormal respiratory sounds for physicians, and therefore allows easier and more practical diagnosis

ELEKTRONİK STETOSKOPUN AKCİĞER OSKÜLTASYON YETENEĞİNİN İNCELENMESİ VE AKCİĞER SESLERİNİN SPEKTRAL ANALİZİ

Öz

Akciğer hastalıklarının tanısında yeni enstrümanlar ve akciğer ses analizleri klinik uygulamalarda hala yaygın olarak kullanılmamaktadır. Bu çalışmada solunum problemine sahip 48 hastanın oskültasyonu deneyimli bir doktor tarafından elektronik stetoskop (Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 4000) kullanılarak yapıldıktan sonra akciğer sesleri stetoskoba kaydedilmiş ve bu sesler doktorun hastaya ait yorumları ile beraber hastanın sürekli takibi amacıyla bilgisayara bir hasta veritabanı olarak kaydedilmiştir. Ayrıca stetoskopta bulunan sesler bilgisayara uygun ses formatında da kaydedilerek daha sonra akustik analizi için olanak sağlanmıştır. Böylece hem gerçek zamanlı dinleme hem de bilgisayar akustik analiz metotlarının kullanılması ile akciğer seslerindeki değişimler, doktorlara normal ve anormal solunum sesi bilgisini sağlamış ve daha kolay teşhis imkanı oluşturmuştur.
