The Effect of Some Factors on Surface Roughness at Planining Process of Cedar Wood

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the feeding direction, cutting direction, and feed speed on surfaceroughness at planing of cedar (Cedrus Libani A. Rich) wood. 120 test samples were prepared to achieve that aim. Whenpreparing the specimens, the wooden materials were planed at a cutting depth of 1.4 mm in a tangential and radial cutting to theannual rings in a milling machine with 4 blades and 85 mm diameter by feeding in a pin turning direction and a pin counterturning direction at feed rate of 6 m/min, 9 m/min. and 12 m/min and a pin turning speed of 7200 rpm. The surface roughnessvalues of the specimens were determined according to the ISO 4287 standards. The surface roughness was evaluated according tothe Ra, Rz, and Ry principles. As a result, smoother surfaces could be obtained in the planing realized by feeding in a pin turningdirection, likewise, the tangential direction produced smoother surfaces compared tothe radial direction and as the feed ratedecreased, the surface roughness also decreased

Rendeleme İşleminde Bazı Faktörlerin Toros Sediri Yüzey Pürüzlülüğüne Etkisi
Öz
Bu çalışmanın amacı, rendeleme işleminde besleme yönü, kesiş yönü ve besleme hızının Toros sediri (Cedrus Libani A. Rich) yüzey pürüzlülüğüne etkisinin belirlenmesidir. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek üzere 120 adet deney örneği hazırlanmıştır. Örnekler hazırlanırken ağaç malzemeler, yıllık halkalarına teğet ve radyal yönde, 4 bıçaklı ve 85 mm çaplı mile sahip freze makinesinde, mil dönüş yönünde ve mil dönüş yönünün tersine besleme yapılarak 6 m/dk, 9 m/dk, 12 m/dk besleme hızı ve 7200 devir/dk mil dönme hızında, 1.4 mm kesme derinliğinde rendelenmiştir. Örneklerin yüzey pürüzlülüğü değerleri ISO 4287 esaslarına göre belirlenmiştir. Yüzey pürüzlüğü üç temel parametre olan Ra, Rz ve Ry esasına göre değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, mil dönüş yönünde besleme yapılan rendelemede daha pürüzsüz yüzeyler elde edilmiştir. Ayrıca, radyal yön teğet yöne göre daha pürüzlü yüzeyler vermiş ve besleme hızı azaldıkça yüzey pürüzlülüğü de azalmıştır.
