A Qualitative Study on the Role of Entrepreneurship-Themed Student Clubs in Third-Generation Universities Towards Students' Entrepreneurial Intentions

Öz

This study aims to examine, from an emic perspective, how entrepreneurship-themed student clubs in third-generation universities shape students’ entrepreneurial intentions. While the literature emphasizes the contributions of student clubs in areas such as leadership, teamwork, practical experience and social networking, the direct contributions of entrepreneurship-themed clubs to entrepreneurial intentions are limited, especially in local context. Therefore, this research focuses on understanding the role of these student clubs in the process, the activities through which they are effective and the extent to which they meet student expectations. A qualitative approach was adopted and a phenomenological design was used. Data obtained from 10 participants through semi-structured interviews were subjected to content analysis. The findings of the study reveal that entrepreneurship-themed student clubs are one of the structures that contribute to the entrepreneurial ecosystem of universities by supporting students’ entrepreneurial intention, personal development and social networking. In this respect, the study is expected to contribute by producing findings on how entrepreneurial culture in third-generation universities can be supported through student clubs
