The Effect Of Digital Addiction On Problem Behavior In Children In Pre-School

Yıl 2020, Cilt: 8 Sayı: 2, 207 - 221, 01.01.2020

Today, children are exposed to both traditional and modern technology. Although it is known that the increase in the use of developing and updated technologies such as television has negative effects on the development and health of children; It has brought modern technologies to the fore, such as smartphones, tablets, and ever-growing computers. Technological developments in the last decade are beneficial as well as creating health risks for children. Improper use of such technological devices in terms of content, duration, frequency and posture while using them; It poses various health risks such as developmental problems, musculoskeletal problems, physical inactivity, obesity and poor sleep quality. It is important to monitor the time, frequency, content displayed while using technological devices for children and adolescents to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and to ensure that children have adequate physical activity opportunities, healthy eating habits, appropriate sleep cycles or develop and feed the social environment. This study reviews the literature on the effect of using digital technology on problem behaviors on children. With the literature review, the positive and negative effects of digital addiction on children have been compiled and discussed. In addition, it is concluded that when digital devices are used in a controlled manner, children benefit by developing their mental skills, and when not in use, they do not create a direct deficiency
