The Role of Public Health Nurses in Increasing Vaccination Rates: A Review of Studies, Reports, and Policy Documents

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 5 Sayı: 2, 55 - 65, 26.08.2025

Öz

This study examined the roles and effects of public health nurses in increasing vaccination rates. In the study, national and international reports, policy documents and scientific publications published between 2020 and 2024 were evaluated using systematic document analysis. The data collection process was carried out in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ULAKBİM and DergiPark databases. The findings reveal that public health nurses play critical roles in community-based vaccination campaigns, such as education, access, counseling and trust-building. In addition, it was determined that various difficulties were encountered in combating logistics management difficulties and social vaccine hesitancy in rural areas. As a result, it was suggested that in order to support the effectiveness of nurses in increasing vaccination rates, professional training programs should be strengthened, community-based interventions should be disseminated with cultural sensitivity and technical capacity should be increased in logistics processes.
