Introduction
and Objectives:
There are many application steps in the preparation of
medicines for patient streated in the hospital and there is a high probability
of error occurrence. Severe complications may occur, which may result in permanent
disability or death, although the cost of drug errors is high. Effective and reliable
use of drugs is a multidisciplinary practice that requires mutual communication
and cooperation between patients, nurses, physicians and pharmacists. The high rate
of drug errors has led to the development of many systems to reduce and prevent
this rate. The use of the drug during the drug application, the effect of
reducing drug errors and how the nurses can benefit from this system in the process
of drug application is explained in thelight of the literature is explained.

Results: Pyxis Medstation,
are safe stores located through out the patient care areas. This system allows the
nurses to reduce the workload, to apply the drugs on time, to provide Access to
only one drug in narcotic drugs with one Access drawer feature, and to prevent the
wrong drug intake. These automated systems used in the distribution of dose dose
medicine sand materials, we are confronted.

Conclusion: Pyxis Medstation
is just one of these systems, and it is thought that the use of it in clinical practice
reduces drug error sand contributes to nursing practice. It is recommended to
test and disseminate the results resulting from the use of Pyxis Medstation and
similar systems with evidence-based applications.
