Introduction and Objective: Aging is a non-recycling, inevitable and physiologic process, which affects all systems. The general population of elderly people in the world has been growing rapidly. Home care is a care model where needs of a person are satisfied by relatives or care professionals in his/her home. The purpose of this compilation is to explain the details of the home care services that has been implemented in Turkey in the recent years.
Materials and Methods: While preparing this review article, books and some databases in the field of home care were scanned using different keywords (aging, home care services, accreditation, standards, quality of healthcare etc.). The literature information of the last 10 years was mainly used in the article.
Findings: In recent years, there has been considerable development in primary health care delivery and home care services focused on the growing elderly population. The aim of home care is to decrease price ofv health services and to increase performance. Home health care is a low costv alternative to traditional inpatient care an appealing selection for developingv countries where financial resources for health care are particularly scarce.
Conclusion: Since the elderly need continuous care and treatment due to their chronic diseases and disorders, various issues related to elderly home care never drop off the agenda. Home care services can be made more effective not only by determining the underlying problems, but also by providing solutions and raising caregiver awareness via education focusing on elderly.
