Effect of Vitamin D on body systems

Öz

Vitamin D is a subclass of the steroid family known as the secosteroid, which consists of three intact steroid rings, called Solar Vitamin D. The biological functions in which vitamin D is involved are very diverse. This vitamin is effective from the growth of intrauterine life to the end of life, bone health, immune system, metabolic diseases, and mental health. In this literature review, the relationship between different body systems and vitamin D has been evaluated and it is aimed to take into consideration vitamin D levels of individuals in the process of maintaining a healthy life and prevention of diseases, treatment and care process.

Öz

D vitamini, “Güneş Vitamini” olarak adlandırılır, üç sağlam steroid halkadan oluşur ve secosteroid olarak bilinen steroid ailesinin alt sınıfa ait bir vitamindir. D vitamininin rol aldığı biyolojik fonksiyonlar çok çeşitli olup, bu vitamin intrauterin yaşamdan yaşamın sonuna kadar; büyüme gelişme, kemik sağlığı, immün sistem, metabolik hastalıklar ve mental sağlık üzerinde etkilidir. Güncel literatür doğrultusunda hazırlanan bu derlemede; sağlıklı bir yaşam sürdürülmesi, hastalıkların önlenmesi, tedavi ve bakım sürecinde bireylerin D vitamin düzeylerinin dikkate alınması hedeflenerek D vitamininin farklı vücut sistemleri üzerine etkisi değerlendirilmiştir.
