Effect of Colostrum on Necrotizing Enterocolitis: Systematic Review

Yıl 2020, Cilt: 7 Sayı: 4, 284 - 289, 01.12.2020

Öz

Introduction and Objective: Necrotizing enterocolitis is a progressive gastrointestinal tract disease common in preterm infants. The etiology is unknown. Breastfeeding, the use of probiotics and the development of enteral feeding and necrotizing enterocolitis are prevented. It is rich in colostrum lactoferrin, immunoglobulin A and anti-inflammatory cytokines. The frequency of necrotizing enterocolitis decreases in preterm babies fed with breast milk in the early period. This systematic review was written to determine the effect of colostrum on necrotizing enterocolitis.
Materials and Methods: Medline / PubMed, EBSCO, Cochrane, Science Direct, Web Of Science, Nursing & Allied Health Database - ProQuest databases were scanned to determine the studies investigating the effect of colostrum on necrotizing enterocolitis between 1999-2019. While scanning, the keywords "necrotising enterocolitis" AND "colostrum" AND "nursing" were used.
Results: As a result of scanning with keywords, 370 articles were reached. As a result of the screening, 6 studies that met the criteria were included in the scope of the systematic review.
Conclusion: When the results of the studies within the scope of the systematic review were examined, it was found that colostrum was effective in reducing the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis in 3 studies.

Kolostrumun Nekrotizan Enterokolite Etkisi: Sistematik Derleme

Kolostrum laktoferrin, immünoglobulin A ve antienflamatuvar sitokinler açısında zengindir. Erken dönemde anne sütü ile beslenen preterm bebeklerde nekrotizan enterokolit görülme sıklığı azalmaktadır. Bu sistematik derleme kolostrumun nekrotizan enterokolit üzerindeki etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yazılmıştır
Gereç ve Yöntem: 1999-2019 yılları arasında kolostrumun nekrotizan enterokolit üzerindeki etkisini inceleyen araştırmaları belirlemek için Medline/ PubMed, EBSCO, Cochrane, Science Direct, Web Of Science, Nursing & Allied Health Database- ProQuest veri tabanları taranmıştır. Tarama yapılırken, “necrotising enterocolitis” AND “colostrum” AND “nursing” anahtar kelimeleri kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Anahtar kelimelerle yapılan tarama sonucunda 370 makaleye ulaşılmıştır. Tarama sonucunda kriterlere uyan 6 çalışma sistematik derleme kapsamına alınmıştır.
Sonuç: Sistematik derleme kapsamındaki araştırmaların sonuçları incelendiğinde 3 çalışmada kolostrumun nekrotizan enterokolit insidansını azaltmada etkili olduğu saptanmıştır.
