COMPASSİON FATİGUE AND BURNOUT OF WORKING PHYSİCİANS AND NURSES IN PEDIATRIC CLINICS

Öz

Aim: The research was conducted in a descriptive type to investigate the levels of compassion fatigue and burnout of pediatricians and nurses.
Material and Methods: 230 physicians and nurses working in pediatric clinics in constituted the sample of the research. Data were collected with sociodemographic were used in the evaluation.
Results: 57.4% of the participants were in the 20-30 age range, 80.9% were women. The mean score of the total Compassion scale was 3.01±027, and the mean score of the Burnout scale was 3.73±1.34. There is a significant relationship between gender and Burnout scale score (p<0.05). No significant correlation was found between the compassion scale total score and the Burnout scale score (p>0.05)
Conclusion: It was determined that physicians and nurses working in pediatric clinics experienced moderate burnout, and that being profession group and other sociodemographic characteristics did not have a significant effect on compassion fatigue. There is only a significant relationship between burnout and gender. In order to minimize the life of burnout and compassion fatigue, it can be recommended to increase awareness, develop practices for the protection of emotional health

Pediatri Kliniklerinde Çalışan Hekim ve Hemşirelerde Merhamet Yorgunluğu ve Tükenmişlik

Öz

Amaç: Araştırma pediatri hekim ve hemşirelerinin merhamet yorgunluğu ve tükenmişlik düzeylerinin araştırılması amacıyla tanımlayıcı tipte yapılmıştır.
Yöntem: Ankara il merkezinde hizmet veren bir çocuk hastanesinde pediatri kliniklerinde çalışan 230 hekim ve hemşire araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Veriler sosyodemografik veri formu, Merhamet Ölçeği ve Tükenmişlik Ölçeği- Kısa Versiyonu ile toplanmıştır. Değerlendirmede sayı, ortalama, ortanca, yüzdelik, Kruskal Wallis, Mann Whitney U test ve Spearman’s rho korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel anlamlılık düzeyi p<0.05 kabul edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılanların %57.4’ü 20-30 yaş aralığında, %80.9’u kadın ve %66.5’i 10 yıl ve daha az süredir sağlık çalışan olarak görev yapmaktadır. Toplam Merhamet ölçeği puanları ortalaması 3.01±027, Tükenmişlik ölçeği puan ortalaması 3.73±1.34’dür. Ortalama olarak Merhamet ölçeği alt boyutlarından Sevecenlik’ten 4.04±0.66, Umursamazlık’tan 1.98±0.67, Paylaşımların Bilincinde Olma’dan 3.98±0.67, Bağlantısızlık’tan 2.07±0.66, Bilinçli Farkındalık’tan 4.03±0.59, İlişki Kesme ‘den 1.97±069 puan alınmıştır. Yaş ile Bağlantısızlık, Bilinçli Farkındalık ve İlişki kesme, medeni durum ile Umursamazlık ve Bilinçli farkındalık, çocuk sahibi olma ile Bilinçli Farkındalık, meslek ile Sevecenlik ve Bilinçli Farkındalık, çalışma yılı ile Bilinçli Farkındalık arasında anlamlı ilişki vardır (p<0.05). Cinsiyet ile Tükenmişlik ölçeği puanı arasında anlamlı bir ilişki vardır (p<0.05). Merhamet ölçeği toplam puanı ile Tükenmişlik ölçeği puanı arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmamıştır (p>0.05).
Sonuçlar: Pediatri kliniklerinde çalışan hekim ve hemşirelerin orta düzeyde tükenmişlik yaşadıkları, hekim veya hemşire olma ve diğer sosyodemografik özelliklerin merhamet yorgunluğu üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi olmadığı saptanmıştır. Tükenmişlik ile yalnızca cinsiyet arasında anlamlı ilişki vardır ve kadınlar erkeklere göre daha fazla tükenmişlik yaşamaktadır. Tükenmişlik ve merhamet yorgunluğu yaşamının an aza indirilebilmesi için farkındalığın arttırılması, duygusal sağlığın korunması için uygulamalar geliştirilmesi, daha büyük gruplar ile derinlemesine çalışmalar yapılması önerilebilir.
