Millions of children are innocent victims of wars, terrorist attacks and armed conflicts. Children's fundamental right to life is neglected and violated in conflict settings. These violations harm children physically and mentally and trap them on a line between life and death. In many parts of the world, children are attacked, killed, injured, enslaved, abducted, abused and exploited in conflicts. Armed conflict directly and indirectly affects children's physical, mental and behavioural health. However, these effects cause long-term consequences. Direct effects of conflict include death, physical and psychological trauma, sexual violence and displacement. Indirect effects include malnutrition, infectious diseases, environmental hazards, unaccompanied unaccompanied, forced labour and destruction of facilities such as education and health. In this article, violations against children in war and armed conflicts and their effects on children's health are discussed.
