Ahmadiyya is a
religious group founded in 1889 by Mirza Gulam Ahmed. This religious group is
still active and widespread today. The naming of this religious structure,
which still exists today, has been actualized within a certain process. The first
names of this religious group, as in other sects, composed names given by his
opponents such as “Qadianism”. In process, depending on various socio-political
reasons, it took different names like “Ahmadiyya”, “Ahmadiyya Movement”,
“Muslim Ahmadiyya Sect”, and “Ahmadiyya Muslim Muslims”. As a result of the
efforts of positioning within the main body of Islam, it transformed from
“secterian” to “community” and has reached the present day with the name,
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Here, in this article, the names of Ahmadiyya in
the process will be evaluated in the context of the conjuncture which justify
for giving these names.
