The purpose of the study is to determine difference
between local spectators’ demographic variables
and organization’s social, cultural and economic impacts
and using Mega Event Impact Scale developed
by Jie and Yan (2010) which hosted Turkey for FIFA
(Federation Internationale de Football Association)
Under-20 World Cup Organization in 2013. The population
of the study occured local spectators who
comes to watch the World Cup matches played in Istanbul
and Bursa cities. 28 women (%24.8) and 85
men (%75.2) a total of 113 local spectators’ selected
within the specified population with the convenience
sampling method. Survey method is used as data
collection tool. The t-test and one-way analysis of variance
(ANOVA) is used to determine differences between
Mega Event Impact Scales’ positive and negative
dimensions and local spectators’ who participate
the survey gender, age, occupation, income state and
residential year variables. According to analysis, there
are not any significant differences between scales’
positive and negative dimensions and spectators’
gender and state of residential. However, local spectators who aged 45 years and over think that the organization
provides more economic benefit compared to
other age groups. Housewives and retirees think that
the organization contributes more to the development
of the city image and tourism infrastructure compared
to other occupational groups.
