A QUALITATIVE EXAMINATION OF GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE’S PREDICTIONS FOR FAMILY MENTAL HEALTH IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 15 Sayı: 30, 367 - 404, 27.12.2025

Öz

This study aims to explore the predictions of generative artificial intelligence programs (ChatGPT, Gemini, Groq, Claude.ai, Copilot, DeepAI, DeepSeek) regarding family mental health in the near future, employing a qualitative research design. Interviews conducted between May 5–11, 2025, were subjected to content analysis, and the findings were categorized under three main themes: (1) Socioeconomic, environmental, technological, and collective trauma risks, (2) The trajectory of family mental health in the near future, (3) Strategic approaches and solution proposals for sustaining family mental health in the future. The results indicate that technology, the climate crisis, social transformation, economic factors will profoundly influence family structures and dynamics. While technology facilitates communication, it also contributes to threats such as empathy decline, social isolation, attention deficits, stress, anxiety, loneliness, all of which adversely affect family mental well-being. Furthermore, emerging psychiatric diagnoses —such as digital addiction, inadequate digital parenting, eco-anxiety— are projected to become increasingly prevalent. The study underscores the significance of artificial intelligence-assisted therapeutic interventions, intergenerational support initiatives, mental health and digital literacy education, the establishment of local support networks to enhance familial cohesion. Ultimately, digital balance, privacy protection, intergenerational understanding and the development of artificial intelligence-based mental health services for family mental health in the near future emerge as key strategic priorities.
