Öz

Periferik arter hastalığı, yaşam kalitesinde azalmaya yol açabilen kardiyovasküler hastalıklardan biridir. Periferik damar hastalıklarında, hastalığın ilerlemesini durdurmak ve komplikasyonların önlenmesini sağlamak için risk faktörlerinin (sigara, hipertansiyon, diabetes mellitus gibi) kontrolü ve yaşam tarzı değişikliğinin uygulanması oldukça önemlidir. Semptom kontrolüne ek olarak yaşam tarzında yapılacak olan düzenlemeler (sigaranın bırakılması, yürüyüş gibi) ile fonksiyonel durum ve yaşam kalitesinde iyileşme sağlanabilmektedir. Bu makalede, periferik arter hastalığı tanısı alan hastaların yaşam tarzı değişikliği yapmalarının neden önemli olduğu ve bu değişiklikleri yaparken kullanılabilecek etkili bazı yöntemlerin tartışılması amaçlanmıştır.

Management of Lifestyle Change in Peripheral Arterial Disease: What Can Be Done?

Öz

Peripheral arterial disease is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases that can lead to a decrease in quality of life. In peripheral vascular diseases, the control of risk factors such as smoking, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and lifestyle changes are very important to prevent complications and stop the progression of the disease. In addition to symptom control, lifestyle adjustments such as smoking cessation, walking can improve the functional status and quality of life. In this article, it is aimed to discuss why it is important to make lifestyle changes and some effective methods that can be used in making these changes for patients diagnosed with peripheral artery disease.
