THE IMPACT OF ECONOMIC FREEDOM ON INCOME IN LEAST DEVELOPED COUNTRIES

Yıl 2017, Cilt: 22 Sayı: 3, 891 - 902, 30.07.2017

Öz

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of economic freedom in least developed countries (LDC) on per capita income. For this purpose, estimates were made through the Generalized Least - Square Method for 21 LDC'-s during the period of 1970-2014. According to the results of this estimate, which used two different economic freedom variables, economic freedom has a positive and statistically significant impact on per capita income. Accordingly, the level of economic freedom causes an increase in per capita income. Therefore, materialization of policies in LDC'-s that will increase the level of economic freedom may contribute to an increase in per capita income.
