Aim: The
aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the color stability of three different
tooth-colored restorative materials (a microhybrid resin composite [Charisma
[Heraeus-Kulzer] , a nanohybrid resin composite [Ice [SDI] and an enhanced resin
modified glass ionomer cement [ACTIVA Restorative [Pulpdent]) after immersion
in five different staining solutions (tea, coffee, cola, red wine and distilled
water).

Material and Methods:45
cylindirical specimens of 5 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness of each restorative
material (totally 135 specimens) were prepared using a plexiglass mold. After immersion
of all specimens in distilled water for 24 hours, first color measurements were
obtained using a spectrophotometer. After first color measurements, specimens were
randomly divided into five groups (n=9) and stored in five different staining solutions
for 28 days. Solutions were refreshed daily during the test period and second color
measurements were obtained at the end of study. The color changes(ΔE) were calculated and were statistically analyzed using
Kruskal-Wallis Test.

Results: ΔE
values of tested materials were ranged between 0.63 and 27.55 after 28 days of
immersion in the staining solutions. For all tested materials the highest ΔE
values were obtained when specimens immersed in red wine. Red wine, coffee and tea
caused significant color change in all tested materials.  Color of restorative materials immersed in
distilled water didn’t change sinificantly after 28 days test period.

Conclusion:Long
term exposure to red wine, coffee and tea can affect color stability of tested restorative
materials.

Farklı İçeceklerin Diş Rengindeki Restoratif Materyallerin Renk Stabiliteleri Üzerine Etkisi

             Amaç: Bu
in vitro çalışmanın amacı üç farklı diş rengindeki restoratif materyalin (bir

edildi. Kırmızı şarap, kahve ve çay bütün test edilen materyallerde anlamlı
derecede renk değişimine neden oldu. Distile suda bekletilen restoratif
materyallerin rengi 28 günlük test süresi sonunda anlamlı derecede
değişmemiştir.

            Sonuç:
Kırmızı şarap, kahve ve çaya uzun süreli maruz kalma, test edilen
restoratif materyallerin renk stabilitelerini etkileyebilmektedir.
