Özet

Çocukluk çaðı akut ishallerinin tanı ve tedavi yaklaşımlarında viral etkenler çoðunlukla göz ardı edilerek, endikasyon dışı ampirik antibiyotik kullanılması ülkemizde çok sık rastlanan bir durumdur. Çocuklarda rotavirüs ve adenovirüs gastroenterit sıklıðını belirlemek amacıyla, Kasım 1999-Nisan 2000 tarihlerinde, hastane çocuk polikliniğine ateş, kusma, karın aðrısı ve şiddetli ishal yakınmaları ile getirilen veya kreş taramalarında saptanan 0-6 yaş grubu toplam 112 ishalli çocuk ile kontrol amacıyla 94 saðlıklı çocuðunun dışkılarından lateks yöntemiyle rotavirüs antijeni (Diarlex.ROTA, Orion Diagnostica, USA) ve adenovirüs (Novum Diag GmbH Germany) araştırılmıştır. Ishal yakınmalı 14 (% 12.5) çocukta rotavirüs, 5.inde de(% 4.5) adenovirüs saptanmış, bir olguda ikili enfeksiyona rastlanmıştır (% 0.9). Kontrol grubunda 3 (% 3.2) çocukta rotavirüs, bir çocukta enterik adenovirüs belirlenmiştir (% 1.06). Özellikle kış aylarında çocuk gastroenteritlerinin tanı ve tedavisinde, etken olarak rotavirüs ve adenovirüsün de unutulmaması gerektiði kanısına varılmıştır. Abstract

Frequency Of Rotavirüs And Enteric Adenovirüs Infection in Children With Acute Gastroenteritis

It is a common practice in our country to use antibiotics for treatment of diarrhea in children usually without taking into account viral agents. In order to detect incidence of gastroenteritis due to rotavirüs and adenovirüs in children, we included 112 children either applying to our hospital for fever, vomiting, abdominal pain and strong diarrhea or detected for diarrhea from day-centers. Ninetyfour healthy children from different day centers were included into study as control group. All children were 0 to 6 years old. We obtained stool samples from all children and screened for rotavirüs antigen (Diarlex ROTA, Orion Diagnostica, USA) and
adenovirüs antigen (Novum Diagn GmbH Germany)Êby ELISA. We detected rotavirüs in 14 children (12.5 %) and adenovirüs in 5 (4.5 %) children and both viruses coincidentally in 1 child. In the control group, 3 children (3.2 %) had rotavirüs and 1 (1.06 %) had enteric adenovirüs. Rotavirüs and adenovirüs agents must be investigated in children with diarrhea in winter especially.
