Sinop Arkeoloji Müzesi Koleksiyonu’nda Yer Alan Üç Bronz Kandilin Tipolojik ve Kronolojik İncelemesi

Öz

Bu çalışma, Sinop ve yakın çevresinde bulunarak, satın alma yoluyla Sinop Arkeoloji Müzesi Koleksiyonu’na kazandırılmış olan üç bronz kandilin tipolojik ve kronolojik açıdan değerlendirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Söz konusu kandiller, döküm tekniğiyle üretilmiş olup farklı dönemlere aittir. İlk kandil, Roma Dönemi’ne tarihlenmekte ve Loeschcke XXI tipi içerisinde yer almaktadır. Hilal biçimli tutamağı, dönemin sembolik ve işlevsel özelliklerini yansıtır. Bizans Dönemi’ne tarihlenen ikinci kandil, altı burunlu formuyla dikkat çeker. Üçüncü kandil ise Selçuklu Dönemi’ne ait olup, 12. yüzyıla tarihlenmektedir. Sade formu ve olası zincir askı delikleriyle dönemin estetik anlayışını sergilemektedir. Bu üç farklı döneme ait kandilin aynı koleksiyonda yer alması, Sinop’un sahip olduğu doğal limanlar vasıtasıyla gelişmiş bir ticaret merkezi olmasının yanı sıra tarih boyunca kültürel ve ticari etkileşimlere açık bir merkez olduğunu da göstermektedir. Kandillerin üretim teknikleri ve stilistik özellikleri, bronz kandil üretiminin bölgedeki gelişimini anlamak açısından da önem taşır. Bu eserler, Sinop ve çevresindeki kandil üretim merkezlerinin belirlenmesine ve benzer örneklerle karşılaştırılarak tipolojik sınıflandırmalara katkı sunmaktadır.

Typological and Chronological Analysis of Three Bronze Lamps in the Collection of the Sinop Archaeological Museum

Öz

This study aims to provide a typological and chronological evaluation of three bronze lamps originated from Sinop and its surrounding region and acquired by the Sinop Archaeological Museum through purchase. These lamps, produced using casting techniques, belong to different historical periods. The first lamp is dated to the Roman period and classified within the Loeschcke Type XXI. Its crescent-shaped handle reflects both the symbolic and functional characteristics of its time. The second lamp, dated to the Byzantine period, stands out with its six-nozzled form. The third example belongs to the Seljuk period and is dated to the 12th century; its plain form and possible suspension holes indicate the aesthetic and practical concerns of the period. The presence of these three lamps, each from a distinct era, within the same collection highlights Sinop’s historical role as a developed trade center facilitated by its natural harbors, and as a hub open to cultural and commercial interactions throughout history. The production techniques, usage patterns, and stylistic features of these lamps provide important data for understanding the development of bronze lamp production in the region. These artifacts contribute to identifying local production centers in and around Sinop and to establishing typological classifications through comparisons with similar examples.
