Batı Akdeniz Bölgesi’ndeki Çocuklarda Süt Dişi Çekim Nedenleri

Öz

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, Batı Akdeniz Bölgesinde yaşayan çocuklarda çekim endikasyonu konulmuş süt dişlerinin başlıca çekim nedenlerini ve diş tiplerine göre dağılımını araştırmaktır.
Gereç ve Yöntemler: Akdeniz Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Pedodonti kliniğine, Ocak 2019 ile Nisan 2019 tarihleri arasında tedavi için başvuran 3-15 yaşları arasındaki hastaların diş kayıtları incelendi. Hastanın yaşı, cinsiyeti, çekim endikasyonu konulan diş tipi ve çekim nedenleri değerlendirildi.
Bulgular: Dört ay boyunca 742 hastanın (400 erkek, 342 kız) toplam 1525 dişine çekim endikasyonu konulmuştur. Süt birinci azı dişler en sık çekim endikasyonu konulan diş tipidir ve toplam diş sayısının % 38’ini oluşturmaktadır. Çekilen diş tipi ve çekim nedenlerinde cinsiyete göre anlamlı farklılık yoktur (p > 0.05). En yüksek çekim endikasyon nedenlerini % 47.2 oranıyla eksfoliasyon zamanı, ardından % 46.4 oranıyla patolojik nedenler (geri dönüşümsüz pulpa iltihabı, dento-alveolar apse vb.) oluşturmuştur. Patolojik nedenlerle çekim endikasyonu konulmuş olan süt dişlerinin çoğunun, 6-8 yaş arasındaki çocuklarda olduğu görülmüştür (% 54).
Sonuç: Çalışmamızda, süt dişlerinin büyük çoğunluğunun çekim nedeninin çürük ve çeşitli pulpal patolojilerden kaynaklı olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Çocukların, ağız diş sağlığı ile ilgili bilgilerinin geliştirilmesi ve erken çekimlerin önlenebilmesi için çalışmalar yapılmalıdır.

The Reasons For Primary Teeth Extractions In Children Living In West Mediterranean Region of Turkey

Öz

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the types of the teeth that have been indicated for extraction and the principal reasons for extractions in children and adolescent from West Mediterranean region of Turkey.
Methods: The dental records of pediatric patients aged 3-15 years who attended the pediatric dental clinic of Akdeniz University Faculty of Dentistry for treatment from January 2019 to April 2019 were reviewed. Patient's age, gender, types of the teeth that have been indicated for extraction and the reason for the extraction were evaluated.
Results: A total of 1525 teeth were indicated for extraction from 742 patients (400 male, 342 female) over 4 months. First primary molars were the most common tooth type extracted and comprised 38 % of teeth. There is no significant difference in the extracted tooth type and causes of extraction according to gender (p > 0.05). Exfoliation time with the rate of 47.2 % followed by pathological reasons (irreversible pulpitis, dentoalveolar abscess etc.) with a rate of 46.4 % constituted the highest indications for extraction. The majority of primary teeth indication for extractions for pathological reasons were performed in the age group of 6-8 years (54 %).
Conclusion: From this study it can be concluded that caries and subsequent pulpal pathology are the most common reasons for extraction of teeth. Efforts must be made to improve the dental health awareness and status of children and prevent the early tooth extraction.
