The Effects of The Deficiency of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc on The Development of The Root and Stem of The Corn Plant

Öz

This research has been done in order to determine the deficiency problems of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassi-um which are of main macro plant nutrients and of zinc which is main micro nutrient on maize (Zea mays L.). The results of a two-year-research have shown that the deficiency of nutrient elements has restricted the growth and development of the corn plant in general. But, when the nutrients are compared to each other, it has been seen that on the characteristics of the plant examined (plant height, leaf number per plant, leaf width, leaf lenght, the diameter of the stem, fresh stem weight, fresh root weight and the proportion of stem/root) the deficiency of nitrogen has the biggest effect and it has been followed by phosphorus and potassium. The deficiency of zinc has shown differents results. When compared to complete nutrient solutions, the effect of zinc deficiency on plant height, fresh stem weight and the propor-tion of stem/root has been negative; it has been the same on leaf number per plant, leaf width, leaf lenght and the diameter of the stem; and it has been positive on fresh root weight. As a result, as far as the fertilization of corn plant is concorned, the emphasis must be put firstly on nitrogen ferti-lizer, secondly on phosphorus and potassium and then zinc.

Azot, Fosfor, Potasyum ve Çinko Eksikliklerinin Mısır Bitkisinin Kök ve Gövde Gelişimi Üzerine Etkileri

Öz

Bu araştırma, önemli bir kültür bitkisi olan mısır (Zea mays L.)’da başlıca makro besin elementlerinden azot, fos-for ve potasyum ile mikro besin elementi çinkonun eksiklik problemlerini saptamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. İki yıllık araştırma sonuçlarına göre, besin elementlerinin eksikliği mısır bitkisinde büyüme ve gelişmeyi genel ola-rak kısıtlamıştır. Ancak birbirleri ile kıyaslandığında incelenen bitki özellikleri üzerinde (bitki boyu, bitkide yaprak sayısı, yaprak eni, yaprak boyu, gövde çapı, gövde ve kök yaş ağırlığı, gövde/kök oranı) eksikliği en fazla etkili olan element azot olmuş bunu sırasıyla fosfor ve potasyum izlemiştir. Çinko eksikliği farklı sonuçlar sergilemiştir. Çinkonun eksikliğinin etkisi bitki boyu, gövde yaş ağırlığı ve gövde/kök oranı bakımından tam besin çözeltisinin sonuçlarına göre olumsuz, bitkide yaprak sayısı, yaprak eni, yaprak boyu ve gövde çapı bakımından tam besin çözeltisinin sonuçları ile aynı, yaş kök ağırlığı bakımından ise tam besin çözeltisinin sonuçlarına göre olumlu olmuştur. Netice olarak, mısır bitkisinin gübrelenmesinde birinci derecede azotun, ikinci derecede de fosforun ve potasyumun ve nihayet çinkonun dikkate alınması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır.
