Usage of Oregano Essential Oil (Origanum Vulgare L.) Extract for Growth Stimulant Antibiotics in Quail Rations

This study was conducted to determine the effect of diets containing virginiamycine and thyme essential oil on body weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio in Japanese quails. A total of 160 quail chicks were divided into four experi-mental groups of 40 birds and fed the following diets for 35 days: A) Control (C): bazal diet; B) C+100 g/tone thyme essential oil (TO); III) C+25 g/tone Virginiamycine; IV) C+ 100 g/tone TO+25 g/tone VIR of diet. Each treatment consisted of 4 repli-cates of 10 quail. Performance parameters were determined weekly. Feed were given as ad libitum. Body weight gain, feed con-sumption and feed conversion ratio values were affected significantly by dietary treatments throughout the experiment (P<0.05). By the end of the trial, birds fed diet containing thyme essential oil significantly increased body weight gain and feed consumption during the experiment. Body weight gain and feed consumption were increased 12.31% and 8.47% in quail consuming the thyme essential oil diet, respectively. Feeding Virginiamycin alone caused significant improved in feed conversion ratio during the experiment compared with the other groups. These results suggested that, thyme essential oil could be an alternative to Vir-giniamycin as growth promoters in Japanese quail.

Bıldırcın Rasyonlarında Büyütme Amaçlı Antibiyotiklere Alternatif Olarak Kekik Uçucu Yağı (Origanum Vulgare L.) Kullanımı

Öz

Bu çalışma, Japon bıldırcınlarında Virginiamycin ve kekik uçucu yağının canlı ağırlık artışı, yem tüketimi ve yemden yarar-lanma katsayısına etkisi tespit etmek için yapılmıştır. Toplam 160 adet Japon bıldırcını, her birinde 40 adet olmak üzere 4 deneme grubuna ayrılmıştır. Araştırmada % 24 HP, % 0.58 metiyonin, % 1.41 lisin ve 2910 kkal ME/kg içeren bazal rasyon kontrol rasyonu olarak kullanılmıştır. Buna göre: A) Kontrol (K): bazal rasyon; B) K+100 g/ton Kekik uçucu yağı (KUY); C) K+25 g/ton Virginiamycin (VIR); D) K+100 g/ton KUY+25 g/ton VIR şeklinde hazırlanan 4 farklı deneme rasyonu 35 gün süreyle deneme gruplarına ad libitum yedirilmiştir. Performans parametreleri haftalık olarak belirlenmiştir. Tüm deneme boyunca canlı ağırlık artışı, yem tüketimi ve yemden yararlanma katsayısı muamelelerden önemli seviyede etkilenmiştir. De-neme sonunda, sadece kekik uçucu yağı içeren rasyonları tüketen bıldırcınlarda canlı ağırlık artışı ve yem tüketimi önemli derecede artmıştır. Kekik uçucu yağı içeren rasyonla beslenen bıldırcınlarda canlı ağırlık artışı ve yem tüketimindeki kümülatif artış sırasıyla, % 12.31 ve % 8.47 olmuştur. Sadece Virginiamycin içeren rasyonu tüketen bıldırcınların yemden yararlanma katsayıları diğer gruplardan daha düşük olmuştur. Bu çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, Japon bıldırcınlarında kekik uçucu yağı-nın büyütme faktörü olarak Virginiamycine alternatif olabileceğini söylemek mümkündür.
