Investigations on The Olive Pests of Secondary Importance, Their Population Changes and Damages in Mut District (Turkey)
Öz
This research was conducted in totally nine olive orchard from three villages in where pesticide application is absent or very few in Mut district of Mersin province during 2001-2002. It was found 9 insect pest species as secondary importance on olive trees. These species are as follows: Bactrocera oleae Gmel. (Dip.: Tephritidae), Phloeotribus scarabaeoides Bern., Hylesinus oleiperda Fabr. (Col.: Scolytidae), Filippia oleae (Costa), Leucaspis riccae Targ.-Tozz. (Hom.: Coccoidea), Coe-norrhinus cribripennis (Desb.)’in (Col: Attelabidae), Calocoris trivalis Costa (Het.: Miridae), Lasioptera berlesiana Paoli, Perrisia oleae Loew.’nin (Dip. Cecidomyiidae). Population changes of the pests in edition to infestation ratios were determined in the olive orchards.
Adult number of B. oleae was maximum 17 (per tree) in 2001, but this number was only 5 in 2002. On the other hand, ra-tio of olive fruits infected with B. oleae larva was 8% in 2001, but it couldn’t find any one in 2002 and adult population density was low. Wintered adults of P. scarabaeoides were harmful. Other 7 pest species population densities and injury levels were very low.
