Effect of Composted Saline Municipal Solid Waste on The Initial Growth of Corn Plant

This investigation was carried out under the laboratory conditions and designed as randomly plots with three replications. Effect of saline municipal solid waste compost (MSW) on emergence of seedling and the initial growth of corn plant (Zea mays L.) was determined. A 100 g of the mixtures of a clay loam textured soil and MSW, in proportion of 0, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 % (w/w) as oven dry basin, was filled in polyethylene pots of 10x5 cm large. After, ten seeds of corn (LG-60) were sawn into 2 cm depth of pots, control and soil- MSW mixtures were watered with distilled water at about field capacity water content by weight. Seedling emergence and growth properties of the corn plant as length and diameter of the stem; root length; aerial and radicu-lar fresh-dry biomasses; water content of aerial and radicular parts, were used to determine the effect of MSW on initial growth of the corn plant. After corn plant harvesting were determined pH and electrical conductivity (EC) values of the control sample and soil- MSW mixtures. The adding of MSW to a clay loam soil was significantly affected to stem length, root length, water content of the root and soil- MSW mixture EC. The highest stem length, root length, total fresh weight, fresh weight of aerial and radicular parts, total water content, water contents of aerial and radicular parts, pH and EC values of the mixtures were 67.13 mm, 284.7 mm, 1.309 g, 0.900 g, 0.414 g, 87.41 %, 91.6 %, 78.66 (w/w) 8.35 and 1.752 dS m-1 in the application rate of 8, 4, 8, 8, 4, 4, 4, 2, 16 and 16 % of MSW, respectively. The effects of treatments on the other parameters were not significant by statistically.

Mısır Bitkisinin İlk Gelişimine Kompostlaştırılmış Tuzlu Çöp Gübresinin Etkisi

Öz

Bu araştırma, tesadüf parselleri deneme deseninde üç tekerrürlü olarak laboratuar şartlarında yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada yüksek tuzluluğa sahip kompostlaştırılmış çöp gübresinin (ÇG) mısır bitkisinin (Zea mays L.) çimlenme ve ilk gelişimine etkileri incelenmiştir. Kompostlaştırılmış çöp gübresi ağırlık esasına göre altı farklı dozda (% 0, 1, 2, 4, 8 ve 16), killi tın tekstürdeki bir toprak (100 g) ile karıştırılarak 10x5 cm ebadındaki plastik kaplara doldurulmuştur. Her bir kaba 10 adet LG-60 hibrit atdişi mısır çeşidine ait tohumlar 2 cm derinlikte ekilerek, tarla kapasitesine gelinceye kadar saf su uygulanmıştır. Her kapta çimlenen bitki sayısı ve 14 günlük gelişme sonrası bitkinin toprak üstü ve toprak altı kısımlarının yaş ağırlıkları, gövde uzunlu-ğu ve kalınlığı ile kök uzunluğu, toprak altı ve toprak üstü kısımların su kapsamları ölçülmüştür. Ayrıca hasat sonrası karışım-ların pH ve elektriki iletkenlik (EC) değerleri de belirlenmiştir. Farklı dozlarda ÇG uygulamaları mısır bitkisinin kök ve gövde uzunluğunu, taze ağırlıklarını ve su kapsamlarını, toprağın pH ve EC değerini istatistiksel olarak önemli ölçüde değiştirmiştir. En yüksek gövde uzunluğu ÇG’nin % 8 dozu, kök uzunluğu ÇG’nin % 4 dozu, toplam taze ağırlık ÇG’nin % 8 dozunda, toprak üstü taze ağırlık ÇG’nin % 8 dozunda, kök taze ağırlığı ÇG’nin % 4 dozunda, toplam su kapsamı ÇG’nin % 4 dozunda, top-rak üstü su kapsamı ÇG’nin % 4 dozunda, kök su kapsamı ÇG’nin % 2 dozunda, pH değeri ve EC değeri ise ÇG’nin % 16 dozunun karıştırıldığı uygulamalarda sırasıyla; 67.13 mm, 284.7 mm, 1.309 g, 0.900 g, 0.414 g, % 87.41, % 91.60, % 78.66, 8.35 ve 1.752 dS m-1 olarak ölçülmüştür. Ölçülen diğer parametreler üzerine yapılan uygulamaların etkisi istatistiksel olarak önemsiz çıkmıştır.
