Erken Hıristıyanlık Döneminde Cilicialı Şifavericiler: Dioscorides, Cosmas ve Damianus

Öz

This study deals with three medical specialists from Cilicia in the Early Christian Period. Dioscorides from Anazarbus was a physician who lived in the first century A.D. Saints Cosmas and Damianus were twins from Aegae who lived in the 3rd century and being Christians never took money for their services. Cosmas and Damianus are regarded as the patrons of physicians and surgeons. The central purpose in analyzing Dioscorides, Cosmas, and Damianus is to demonstrate their lives along with their contribution to Medical Work. The story of Dioscorides, Cosmas and Damianus is presented in two parts. The first part deals with their lives and the second part explores their works such as Dioscorides’s Materia Medica and Cosmas and Damianos’ miracles. Their works became the vehicle to make adjustments in knowledge about Medicine and nature. The study also sheds light on their influence on not only Medicine in their period but also many discipline in the modern science of Medicine.

Bu çalışma Erken Hırıstiyanlık Donemi’nde Cilicia’da yaşamış olan üç şifavericiye değinmektedir. MS 1. yüzyılda yaşamış Dioscorides doktor ve Anazarbus’ludur. Aegae’lı olan Aziz Cosmas ve Damianus ise ikizdir ve MS 3.yüzyılda yaşamıştır. Iyileştirdiği kişilerden hic para almamış, doktor ve cerrahların azizleri olarak anılmışlardır. Bu üç şifavericinin üzerinde çalışmaktaki amaç hayatlarını inceleyerek tıp dünyasına katkıları üzerinde durmaktır. İlk bölüm hayatları hakkında bilgi verirken ikinci bölümde tıbbi çalışmarı üzerinde durulacaktır. Bu çalışma ayrıca onların Modern tıbba etkilerinide değinecektir.
