Bu çalışma Afrika Birliği'nin, Demokratik Kongo Cumhuriyeti'nde devam edegelen iç çatışmalarla ilgili barışı koruma faaliyetlerinin etkisini analiz etmektedir. Makale, Afrika Birliği'nin barışı koruma faaliyetlerinin başarı, başarısızlık ve sınırlılıklarını mevcut literatür ve uluslararası kuruluşların raporlarından hareketle değerlendirmektedir. Barışı koruma faaliyetlerinde Demokratik Kongo Cumhuriyeti'ne bağlı dahili faktörler, komşu ülkelerden kaynaklanan problemler ve Afrika Birliği'nin kendi yapısından kaynaklanan sınırlılıklar barışı koruma çalışmalarının temel sorunları olarak ortaya konmuştur. Afrika Birliği'nin barışı koruma misyonlarında karşılaştığı sorunların yanı sıra, Demokratik Kongo Cumhuriyeti'nde barışı ve sürdürülebilir güvenliği sağlama konusunda olumlu sonuçlar da elde edilmiştir. Afrika Birliği'nin Demokratik Kongo Cumhuriyeti'nde barışı koruma faaliyetlerinden elde edilen dersler özetlenerek hem Demokratik Kongo Cumhuriyeti'nde hem de benzeri problemleri yaşayan diğer ülkelerde gelecekte yapılacak olan barışı tesis etme ve koruma faaliyetlerinde yararlı olabilecek bir kısım politika tavsiyelerine dönüştürülmüştür.

This study analyzes the impact of the United Nation’s (UN) peacekeeping missions on the ongoing internal conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Based on existing literature and reports from international organizations, the article evaluate the successes, failures, and limitations of the United Nation’s peacekeeping operations by using the literature. Internal factors related to the DRC, problems stemming from neighboring countries, and limitations stemming from the UN's structure are the main challenges in peacekeeping operations. Despite the challenges faced by the UN in its peacekeeping efforts, positive results have also been achieved in establishing peace and sustainable security in the DRC. Lessons learned from the UN’s peacekeeping operations in the DRC are summarized and translated into several policy recommendations that may be useful for future peacebuilding and maintenance efforts in the DRC and other countries facing similar challenges.
