ORGANIZATIONAL SILENCE IN WHITE-COLLAR WORKERS: A RESEARCH ON BANK BRANCH EMPLOYEES

The purpose of this research
is to examine the factors that create the organizational silence climate over
occupational silence, and the effects of employee silence behavior on job
satisfaction, organizational commitment and burnout.
For the research, firstly the
employees of the bank branch were tried to be reached through the labor unions.
When this request was not realized, the survey was conducted by a questionnaire
for bank branch employees in Bilecik province.
Findings shows that there is
no significant effect of top management attitudes to silence, and communication
opportunities on employee silence behavior, in contrast to many research, but
the positive effect of the supervisor’s attitudes to silence on employee
silence behavior. In addition, a positive effect of occupational silence on job
satisfaction and organizational commitment. There is a negative and significant
relationship between burnout and occupational silence.
