Buzz’ı Çerçevelemek: Film Festivalleri ve Duygulanımsal Atmosferler

Öz

Duygulanımsal bir kavram olarak “buzz”, film festivali deneyiminde merkezi bir rol üstlenir. Türkçede festival heyecanı, festival atmosferi ya da dedikodu kavramları ile karşılanan “buzz”, yoğunluğu ve çekim gücünü ima eder: Bu bağlamda, festival uzamlarında ritimler ve akışlar oluşturma gücüne sahiptir. Bu makale, kavramı film festivalleri merkezinde gerçekleşen hareket olgusu bağlamında ele almaktadır. Kavramı sabit tanımlarından öte, hareket ve etkileme kiplerinde ele alan bu çalışma, buzz’ı festival uzamları içinde atmosferik bir fail olarak konumlamayı amaçlar. Kavramın kentsel duygulanım literatürü bağlamında bir değerlendirmesini sunan ilk bölümde, film festivalleri yurttaşlık ritüelleri ile ilişkilendirilir. İkinci kısımda ise dağılımlı eyleyicilik kuramı çerçevesinde, “buzz”ın atmosferik uyumlanma süreçlerinde nasıl bir faillik üstlenebileceği ele alınmaktadır. Son bölümde ise, film festivallerinde atmosferik uyumlanma pratiklerinin nasıl gerçekleştiğini açıklamak için antropolojik bir kavram olan transdüksiyon kavramına başvurulur. Ses çalışmalarından ilham alan bir kavramsallaştırma olan transdüksiyon, atmosferik ilişkilere yönelik bir duyarlılık geliştirilmesini ve faillik kavramının yeniden düşünülmesini zorunlu kılar. “Buzz” kavramını heterojen bir öbekleşme olarak alan bu makalede, kavram festival uzamları içinde canlı bir madde, atmosferik bir kuvvet olarak konumlanır

Framing Buzz: Film Festivals as Affective Atmospheres

Öz

Buzz has a pivotal role in the film festival experience. As an affective intensity, buzz suggests dynamics of density and directionality; it generates rhythms and flows within festivalscapes. This article explores festival buzz within the context of movement in and around film festivals. Through a shift of focus beyond static definitions toward how buzz moves and functions, this paper aims to provide a framework for festival buzz as a dynamic atmospheric agent in the festivalscape. Presenting an overview on the literature on buzz and urban affect, the first section frames film festivals as civic rituals. The second section examines how buzz acts as an operational force in atmospheric attunement, building on the notion of distributive agency. The final section proposes an anthropological concept, transduction, to explain how atmospheric attunement occurs in film festivals. Transduction, as a sonically oriented approach, entails a sensitivity towards atmospheric relations and reconceptualization of the notion of agency. In this context, framing festival buzz as an heterogenous assemblage, this paper situates festival buzz as vibrant matter, an atmospheric force within the festivalscape.
