The Journal of Social and Cultural Research (JSCR) is an international, peer-reviewedacademic journal that aims to publish theoretical and empirical studies conducted in the field of social sciences. The journal welcomes scholarly work that examines social, cultural, historical, and intellectual processes through critical and interpretive perspectives. JSCR is published under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sakarya University and is positioned as a broad-scope social sciences journal reflecting the disciplinary diversity of the faculty. In this context, the journal accepts original academic studies produced in various fields of social sciences, including sociology, philosophy, history, psychology, geography, art history, Turkish language and literature, translation studies, German language and literature, social work, and gender and women’s studies, among others. Interdisciplinary and comparative studies are also welcomed.
JSCR primarily prioritizes empirical research Nevertheless, theoretical studies that offer an original contribution to the field and are grounded in a strong conceptual framework are also considered within the journal’s scope.The journal follows a publication policy that is open to current debates and emerging research areas in the social sciences. In this regard, studies addressing social transformations from mu ltiple perspectives—particularly those focusingon sustainability, digitalization, digital culture, technology–society relations, environmental issues, inequalities and migration—are considered to be of particular importance for the journal.
JSCR publishes research articles, review articles, and book reviews. For book reviews, recently published and up-to-date books relevant to the journal’s scope are given priority. The language of publication is English. The journal is published biannually, in June and December. All submissions to JSCR undergo an initial editorial screening by the relevant field editors and are subsequently evaluated by at least two independent referees through a double-blind peer review process. Key evaluation criteria include disciplinary relevance, scientific contribution, methodological rigor, and compliance with ethical standards. All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism prior to publication, and a maximum similarity rate of 15% is required. Editorial processes are conducted in accordance with the principles of transparency and academic integrity.
Authors are expected to upload all mandatory submission documents, including the title page, copyright form, and any other required files specified in the submission system, in a complete and accurate manner. Submissions with missing or incomplete mandatory documents may be returned at the editorial pre-evaluation stage without being sent for peer review.
JSCR adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and places particular emphasis on research and publication ethics, including the clear and documented presentation of ethical approval for studies requiring ethics committee authorization. JSCR is licensed under Creative Commons and follows the Budapest Open Access Policy. We are pleased to receive original, up-to-date, and high-quality scholarly contributions from diverse disciplines within the social sciences.
